Sensex, on Thursday, closed 47 points down at 29,927 even though RBI left its benchmark lending rate unchangedat 6.25% on Thursday for the third policy review in a row citing upside risk to inflation.. Among sectors, Power, Oil & gas and Realty gained over 0.7% to 2.0%each. Among stocks, Bajaj Auto, Reliance and Tata Steel gained over 1.5% to 1.7%each. Market breadth was positive with 1472 advances against 1419 declines.
Nifty closed 3 points down at9,262. Today, we expect markets to open on a negative note on the back ofnegative global cues.
US Markets closed on a positivenote. Dow closed flat while Nasdaq closed 0.3% up. US markets, today, will seedata releases on Average Hourly Earnings m/m, Non-Farm Employment Change, UnemploymentRate, Final Wholesale Inventories m/m, FOMC Member Dudley Speaks and ConsumerCredit m/m.
Asian markets are trading on a negative note; Nikkei is trading 0.1% down and Hang Seng is trading 1.1% down. SGX Nifty is trading 55 points down at 9,212. Indian ADRs ended the day on a mixed note. Among financial ADRs, ICICI Bank closed 0.4% lower, while HDFC Bank gained 0.4%. Among IT ADRs, Wipro lost 0.8% and Infosys closed flat. Tata Motors ADR gained 0.7%.
