Sensex, Nifty open flat ahead of Brexit vote; Tata Motors gains --- 23 June 2016

The market has opened flat ahead of ahead of the EU referendum Thursday. UK will vote to determine the future of Britain within the 28-member European Union. The Nifty’s support is seen around 8,050-8,100 while resistance is likely around 2016 high of 8273. 

                                       

The Sensex is down 3.27 points at 26762.38, and the Nifty down 3.85 points at 8199.85. About 415 shares have advanced, 271 shares declined, and 32 shares are unchanged.

Tata Motors, Lupin, Dr Reddy's Labs, Coal India and Sun Pharma are top gainers while NTPC, ONGC, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel and TCS are losers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 67.43 per dollar on Thursday versus previous close 67.48.

The 30-share index was trading at 26792, up 27 points or 0.10 per cent. It touched a high of 26,813.57 and a low of 26,747.63 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 8207.75 up 4 points or 0.05 per cent. It touched a high of 8,212.35 and a low of 8,196.70 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.18 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.20 per cent higher. 

Tata Motors (up 1.4 per cent), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 0.95 per cent), Adani Ports (up 0.7 per cent) and M&M (up 0.60 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers. 

NTPC (down 3.5 per cent), Power Grid (down 1.2 per cent), ONGC (down 0.48 per cent), TCS (down 0.40 per cent), and Wipro (down 0.26 per cent) were the major index losers.
