Sensex, Nifty open flat as assembly elections counting underway -- 19 May 2016

The market has opened lower as counting continues for Assembly elections in five states. The Sensex is down 42.46 points or 0.2 percent at 25662.15, and the Nifty down 18.45 points or 0.2 points at 7851.70. About 311 shares have advanced, 169 shares declined, and 38 shares are unchanged. 

                                                       
Lupin, Tata Motors, Dr Reddy's, NTPC and Sun Pharma are top gainers while ONGC, Asian Paints, Maruti, HDFC and SBI are losers in the Sensex.

The 30-share index was trading at 25,578, down 125 points or 0.49 per cent. It touched a high of 25,714.56 and a low of 25,571.97 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,837 down 32 points or 0.42 per cent. It touched a high of 7,876.20 and a low of 7,829.55 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 
The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.12 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.16 per cent higher. 

LupinBSE 1.44 % (up 1.4 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.4 per cent), and Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 0.11 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers. 

ONGC (down 1 per cent), ITC (down 0.98 per cent), HDFC (down 0.84 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (down 0.8 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.
