Sensex, Nifty open in red on expiry day; HCL Tech down 2% --- 28 April 2016

The market has opened lower on April Future & Options expiry day as global cues weigh on India. The Sensex is down 20.47 points at 26043.65 and the Nifty is down 11.45 points at 7968.45. About 292 shares have advanced, 163 shares declined, and 35 shares are unchanged. 

                                         
Bharti Airtel, Cipla, ONGC, Sun Pharma and Coal India are top gainers in the Sensex while Maruti, Infosys, ITC, HDFC and Reliance are losers.



The Indian rupee has opened at 66.39 per dollar up 0.13.







The 30-share index was trading at 26,084, up 20 point or 0.08 per cent. It touched a high of 26,100 and a low of 26,009.37 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,984 up 4.3 points or 0.05 per cent. It touched a high of 7,990.20 and a low of 7,959.10 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.45 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.33 per cent lower. 

Bharti Airtel (up 1.9 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 1.1 per cent), Axis Bank (up 1 per cent), ONGC (up 0.68 per cent), and State Bank of India (up 0.6 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers. 

ITC (down 1.2 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 0.9 per cent), Adani Ports (down 0.4 per cent) and Wipro (down 0.3 per cent) were the only Sensex losers.
