Jio free offer: Mukesh Ambani announces new tariff plans - TradeBizz Research


Reliance Jio has crossed the milestone of 100 million customers within 170 days of its inception. 

RIL chief Mukesh Ambani, in a press conference today said that Jio has added seven customers to its network every single second of each day in the last 5 months. 

“By end of 2017, Jio network will cover 99 percent of the country’s population,” Ambani said. 

As of December, India’s total mobile subscribers base grew 2.5 percent wherein Jio added more than 72 percent new users in last four months of 216. As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s data, Jio had 6.4 percent of total wireless customers in India by December. 

Jio launched services on September 5 but has since offered free voice and data calls through its 'Welcome' and 'New Year' offers. 

It will start its tariff plan from April 2017 onwards. After its initial free plan, Jio had launched its Happy New Year offer offering free voice and data services. This plan will lapse on March 31. 

According to statistics, Reliance Jio users consumed data as much as that of the US and 50 percent data of half of China, Ambani said. 

Elaborating on the growth since its launch, Ambani said that the Jio users have made more than 200 crore minutes of video and voice calls. Users consumed more than 100 crore gigabytes of data in January 2017, which is more than 3.3 crore GB data per day. 

The company plans to double its existing data capacity in the next two years. 

Post the launch of Jio, India became the number one in mobile data usage in the world. The network now boasts double the number of 4G stations in comparison to all the other operators, Ambani said.
